WALKING THE CROOKED PATH Have you ever paused to wonder how you came to be where you are on your spiritual path? Few of us begin our lives knowing exactly where we are headed. More often, the journey unfolds one step at a time. We are moved by a chance encounter, a book that finds us at just the right moment, a dream that lingers long after we wake, or a walk in the forest that leaves us feeling profoundly connected to something greater than ourselves. For some, the path begins in childhood. For others, it emerges through life's greatest challenges. Many of us spend years exploring different traditions, teachers, or healing modalities before discovering the wisdom that feels like home. Rarely is the journey a straight line. Looking back, however, we often realize that every twist, every detour, and every unexpected chapter was quietly preparing us for where we are today. Perhaps the same could be said about how many of us found Shamans Directory. Some discovered us through a friend. Others while searching online for a teacher, a ceremony, or a healing practice. Some arrived after years of longing to find authentic Indigenous and earth-based wisdom. Others simply stumbled across our community and felt something resonate. However you found us, we want you to know something: In a world where information is abundant we believe that discernment is increasingly important. Preserving authentic lineage-based teachings is not about preserving the past. It is about protecting living traditions that continue to evolve while maintaining their integrity. These traditions carry generations of lived experience, deep relationships with nature, and ways of understanding healing that our modern world desperately needs to embrace. Each tradition carries unique medicine, a unique expression of humanity's relationship with the Earth and the sacred. When we honor these differences while learning from one another, we begin to remember something much greater — that beneath our diversity, we are one human family. As you reflect on your own journey this month, we invite you to ask yourself: What first awakened your heart to this path? Who or what planted the seeds that eventually led you here? How has your relationship with Spirit, the Earth, and community evolved over the years? And perhaps most importantly, where is the medicine inviting you next? We are deeply grateful that your path has crossed ours. Whether you have been with us for a short time or since our beginning, we would love to hear from you about your experience of our platform and programming. We hope that you will take a moment to let us know by filling our brief 5-minute survey. A sacred word can become a doorway. As we begin to understand what a word carries, we can approach it with greater intention, energy, embodiment, and respect. Within the Andean traditions, sacred words and expressions form part of a living relationship with Pachamama, the Apus, the elements, the ancestors, and the wider living Cosmos.
In this special online teaching series, Pampamesayoq Medicine Man Wilbert Salas Atasi invites us to explore sacred words, prayers, and expressions carried through the living traditions of the Andes. Together, we will discover their deeper meanings, symbolism, cosmology, ceremonial context, and use in prayer, healing, ceremony, and everyday practice.
Across 13 live teachings, Wilbert will share words and expressions connected with prayer, invocation and healing, Pachamama and the Apus, sacred places, animals and nature beings, ceremonial tools and offerings, songs and chants. Each class builds upon the previous one, allowing the teachings to unfold naturally. The final session will culminate in a Haywariquy offering, bringing together prayers and sacred expressions learned throughout the journey.
Your participation includes 13 live sessions, recordings, and learning materials for continued study and practice. Hosted by Mayumi Beckers, we warmly invite you to join us in discovering words that can become bridges between intention, prayer, relationship, and the sacred.

People often assume that the Northern or Old Norse traditions are primarily concerned with male gods and heroes. Yet beneath the surface lies a rich and mysterious realm of feminine power.
At the heart of Norse cosmology stands Lyfjaberg, the Mountain of Healing, where the mysterious goddess Menglöð resides alongside her Nine Maidens, also known as the Nine Disir, powerful healers and compassionate ancestral feminine beings, each associated with their own gifts and specialisms.
The ancient Old Norse poem Fjölsvinnsmál, found in the Poetic Edda, tells of this extraordinary spiritual pilgrimage to the Mountain of Healing in search of healing and wholeness, especially for women who have run out of options and seek the mountain as a final resort. Climbing this sacred mountain can bring profound healing miracles, no matter how ill or "dis-eased" a person may be.
In this three-part online webinar series, Shamans Directory Ambassador, Teacher, Author, and Artist, Imelda Almqvist, hosted by Christian Thurow, will introduce participants to three of the Nine Maidens in each class. The Prayer of the Guarani-Kaiowá A World Film Premiere and Online Gathering

“Water lives in our bodies. It evaporates into the air, becomes a cloud of love, falls as rain, sprouts the buds, blooms the flowers. We are Nature.” These are the words of a Kaiowá poet.
For the Guarani-Kaiowá people of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, there is no clear line where the body ends and the land begins. They call themselves Yvy Poty — Flowers of the Earth — expressing a profound relationship with the living world and the land that has sustained their people for generations.
Yet their ancestral territory has been dramatically transformed. For more than a century, much of their homeland has been cleared and fenced for agribusiness, restricting communities to small areas of land and threatening their traditional ways of life, language, culture, and relationship with the Earth.
The new documentary Flowers of the Earth: The Prayer of the Guarani-Kaiowá follows their journey through prayer, ceremony, and Retomada, the return to ancestral land, as they work to protect their territory and preserve their sacred worldview for future generations.
